Art Gazing : 11.23.25 - Studio Museum (Family Edition)
1/7/26
Sunday, November 23, 2025 - This was a special day! After many walks by during the building’s construction, and the idea of a Thelma Golden curated experience, I was beyond excited to spend the afternoon with my two favorite people, Art Gazing.
On November 15th, 2025, The Studio Museum reopened in a brand new building, on 125th Street, in the heart of Harlem, USA. Designed by David Adjaye (Adjaye Associates) with Cooper Robertson as executive architect, the seven story building is stunning, filled with galleries of some of the most inspiring works by Black artist and contemporary artist of the African diaspora, studio spaces, as well as a rooftop terrace. The view is breathtaking.
Even with the crowd you would expect to find the second weekend of any opening (with free admission), we had an amazing time! Definitely left that day with many feelings - proud, being from Harlem, and having such a resource and landmark in the community. Inspired - as an artist, seeing the work of other artist can be so informing, and helps to understand ways to better articulate my ideas to connect with the audience. This was the first time being in a museum, and having the feeling of knowing that I want my work to be on view there one day…
I’m so grateful that we were able to bring our daughter to witness it all. We plan on taking her regularly, as I truly hope that the youth in the area use this institution as a tool, and realize that this can be a gateway to the rest of the world.
