In this installment, you witness the “settle in.” Now living in a place I had visited somewhat regularly—and even lived in briefly from 2016 to 2017—during the ten years prior, I began to see things differently as I accepted my new reality. Being in a new landscape and searching for fresh inspirations made me realize how much I had relied on my muse. Now I was forced, in a way, to see if I could still thrive without her. Knowing she wasn’t far away, but that there would be months when I couldn’t visit the source, I had to find new motivation.

Looking back now, I see that the time away is what helped me gain a better perspective. I had finally stepped back far enough to reflect on what I had been creating over the past ten years. While I had been focused on shooting more, the universe gave me this moment to pause, to see where I was going, and to recognize that I had options.
