This month found me still “settling in.” I was looking for a new place while preparing for my daughter’s arrival. I was officially on maternity leave—at least mentally—which gave me the space to simply move with what I felt. I started becoming more familiar with my surroundings, and in doing so, I realized that although my greatest muse is NYC, I’m a city kid at heart. Put me in another city, and I’ll adapt and find my way. Different city, same moves!

As I write this, I realize how much I had fallen back in love with my city after being away for an extended period of time. I wasn’t ready to learn another place when I was having so much fun rediscovering home—and when I had so many ideas and plans I wanted to bring to life in my hometown. Still, a new adventure was on the horizon. That didn’t mean I had to abandon my goals; it just meant they might need to be reshaped to accommodate new blessings.

Sometimes we don’t dream big enough. We put unnecessary limits on our ambitions. But as I continued to “settle in,” a new world started to unfold in front of me.
